The American Heart Association of the CSRA and WRDW News 12/26 are excited to collaborate on a year-long campaign, “On Their Side: Training 12,026”. More than 300,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen each year, and many of them happen at places where people learn, live, work, pray, and play. If you’re called on to save a life, it will likely be the life of someone you love. Unfortunately, about 90 percent of people who suffer out-of-hospital cardiac arrests die. Hands-Only CPR, especially if performed immediately, can double or triple a cardiac arrest victim’s chance of survival. The AHA and WRDW are collaborating with the goal of training 12,026 CSRA residents in Hands-Only CPR. The kick off to this campaign will take place at Arts In The Heart, and the campaign will run through August 2020. Hands-Only CPR is a free training and AHA staff members are happy to train local businesses, community organizations, etc.
