Schrodinger’s Cat Improv on the Family Stage!

Schrodinger’s Cat Improv on the Family Stage!

Schrödinger’s Cat is Augusta’s own long-running improv comedy troupe, delighting audiences for the past 18 years with monthly performances at Le Chat Noir. Known for their quick wit, boundless creativity, and ability to keep audiences laughing, the group has become a staple of the local theatre scene. Their shows are always fresh and unpredictable, since no two performances are ever the same, making each night a unique experience for both newcomers and longtime fans.

Improv, short for improvisational theatre, is a form of live performance where dialogue, characters, and storylines are created entirely in the moment. Based on audience suggestions or spur-of-the-moment ideas, performers build scenes on the spot, blending sharp thinking, collaboration, and comedic timing to create something that has never existed before and never will again.

The troupe’s home, Le Chat Noir, has been a cornerstone of Augusta’s performing arts community since it opened its doors in 2006. In its first season, the theatre produced seven shows and hosted more than a hundred events, and today it has surpassed a thousand events and produced over a hundred shows, many of them Augusta premieres.

Beyond the stage, Le Chat Noir has championed local charities and educational initiatives, donating resources to organizations such as the CSRA Humane Society, the Jessye Norman School of the Arts, and the Greater Augusta Arts Council, while also nurturing the next generation of performers through programs like, Matagot’s School of Stagecraft and Puppetry, Les Chatons Noir and Youth Leadership Augusta. Though one of the youngest performance venues in the CSRA, Le Chat Noir has quickly established itself as a cultural pillar, making it the perfect home for the spontaneity and energy of Schrödinger’s Cat.

This year, for the first time ever, Schödinger’s Cat will be hosting an improv session for kids on the Family Stage. Bring your little comedians down to pitch ideas to the stage and join in on the fun!
