10 Sep Local Artist Deepti Malik at This Year’s Festival
Deepti’s artistic journey is rooted in a lifelong attraction to creativity. After a successful career in the corporate and academic worlds, she decided to follow her true calling and immerse herself fully in the arts. Over the past decade, she has established herself in the creative industry, initially focusing on illustrating and designing handmade cards. This foundation paved the way for her to explore more expansive and visually compelling forms of art.
In the past year alone, Deepti’s work has been showcased in various events and exhibitions organized by the Greater Augusta Arts Council, including the Annual Winter Art Showcase in the City Gallery, the I <3 Augusta exhibit in the Augusta & Co. Gallery, and the Annual WetPaint Party & Art Sale at Sacred Heart Cultural Center. Her art was also displayed at the Wellstar MCG Healing Arts Gallery from March – April 2024 as well as in the APMU Studio in Downtown Augusta, GA in April 2024. Notably, Deepti was part of a specially curated team of artists for the ART Tasting event at The Pinnacle Club in Augusta, and she is thrilled to have been selected for the prestigious “Arts in the Heart of Augusta” festival. Her booth number is 755!
For Deepti, participating in Arts in the Heart holds special significance. Five years ago, when she first moved to Augusta and attended the festival as a spectator, she dreamed of one day being part of it as a vendor. At that time, she wasn’t even painting professionally. Today, that dream has become a reality. Being a part of this vibrant community of creatives, where artists inspire and support each other, is a source of immense pride and fulfillment for many artists, including Deepti. She herself describes the experience as nothing short of elating; a celebration of creative freedom that makes Arts in the Heart a must-visit event.
As Deepti Malik continues to explore new ways of expressing her vision, she remains committed to her journey as both a creator and a mentor. Her art, grounded in realism yet open to abstraction, invites viewers to see the world through her eyes, to experience the warmth and beauty of nature she captures so vividly.
